A Night of Food, Fun, and Phenomenal Magic
The Phoenix Magic Club celebrated the holiday season in style with an unforgettable evening of camaraderie, culinary delights, and captivating performances. With 27 magicians and their plus-ones in attendance, the event proved to be a true celebration of the magic community and the artistry we all cherish.
Dinner and Festivities
The evening kicked off with a fun dinner, where members and guests shared stories, laughs, and a common love of magic. The room buzzed with excitement, not just for the socializing, but for the promise of the show to come—a showcase of incredible talent from our own club members.
The Performances
The show was a feast for the imagination, with six incredible acts that brought the magic to life:
• John O’Hare wowed the audience with his rendition of Rene Lavand’s legendary routine “It Can’t Be Done Any Slower.” His flawless sleight of hand and deliberate pacing were a masterclass in creating drama and suspense.
• Tank Hanna, our club president, served as the evening’s emcee with charm and humor. Tank also performed a close-up card set that demonstrated why he’s one of the club’s most skilled and respected magicians.
• Ed Mukai brought a touch of mystery with his routine Patterns, weaving a narrative that married the classic magic square with an ACAAN.
• Bill Halmi turned the stage into a live game of Clue, where a member of audience worked to solve a magical murder mystery. Bill’s storytelling and clever method had everyone riveted until the final reveal.
• Jay Jennings added a weird twist to the evening with a rendition of Phill Smith’s Quinta, accompanied by the vocal stylings of *NSYNC. The mix of mind-reading and nostalgic pop had the audience laughing and gasping in equal measure.
• Joan Rieser closed the show with Cassandra’s Game, a surprising “do as I do” routine that highlighted her ability to combine fun (ring the bell!) with powerful magic.
A Night to Remember
The holiday party was a resounding success, showcasing the immense talent within our club and reminding us why we’re all passionate about magic. It was a night of laughter, astonishment, and connection—everything the season is about.
Thank you to all the performers, attendees, and organizers who made this evening so special. Here’s to another magical year ahead!
